Rotary Abutment Meters

A type of positive displacement meter (PD), the rotary abutment flow meter is highly versatile as it can handle liquids of varying viscosities, & is capable of measuring intermittent, low, & high flow rates.

The rotary meter works by rotors turning in a housing; the rotors, (usually 3), turn independently of one another; these are synchronised by means of a timing gear located at the end of the rotors. For each complete cycle of each rotor, a precise volume of liquid is displaced; this can either be recorded as a measurement on the display, or used to provide a pulsed output.

Rotary meters are available with either electronic or mechanical registration; a pulsed output option is also available. A full range of metering accessories are available including air eliminators, strainers, preset valves, & ticket printers. As there is no metal to metal contact, rotary abutment meters are able to maintain accurate measurement over long periods of time, largely due to minimal wear of internal components.

Our range of rotary abutment displacement meters cover both mechanical & electronic display with flow rates up to 3082 litres per minute, accuracies of up too +/- 0.15% & pressures up to 10.5 bar. They are of either stainless steel or aluminium construction with Viton, PTFE, or EPDM seals & are suitable for use with refined petroleum products such as oil, diesel & petrol along with many industrial liquids & chemicals.

As with other PD meters, rotary abutment flow meters should only be used with ‘clean’ liquids to avoid damage to the tightly toleranced internal components.
